All About Wedding Signage: Types, Styles, Messages, and More!

Weddings are a celebration of love, joy, and togetherness! They bring people from different walks of life together to witness the union of two souls. To make this magical day even more enchanting, couples are increasingly turning to wedding signage! From sharing important information to adding personal touches, wedding signage is a fantastic way to enhance the ambiance and guide guests throughout the event. In today's blog post, we'll explore all about wedding signage, including types, styles, messages, and more! Let's dive in!

Types of Wedding Signage

Wedding signage comes in various forms, serving different purposes. Here are some popular types you can consider incorporating into your special day:
1. Welcome Signs: Greet your guests with a beautiful welcome sign at the entrance. This sets the tone for the event, giving guests a warm feeling right from the start.
2. Directional Signs: Help your guests navigate the venue effortlessly by placing directional signs at key points. These signs can point towards the ceremony area, reception hall, restrooms, and parking areas. Also a kind of directional sign that we’ve seen becoming more popular, is a sign asking guests to refrain from using their phones during the ceremony for an “unplugged” wedding atmosphere!

3. Seating Charts: Guide your guests to their designated seats with elegant seating charts! These can be displayed at the entrance or near the reception area.

Looking for an incredibly unique seating chart? Check out this standing seating chart that can be rented from Borrowed Blooms! —>

4. Menu Signs: Showcase your delectable menu with stylish menu signs. It adds a touch of sophistication to your reception area and helps guests plan their meals in advance!
5. Hashtag Signs: Promote social media sharing by incorporating hashtag signs. Encourage your guests to use specific hashtags when sharing their pictures and videos on social platforms, allowing everyone to relive the magical moments!

Wedding Signage Styles and Designs

Wedding signage can be customized to match your wedding theme and personal style. Here are some popular styles and designs to consider:

1. Rustic: Perfect for outdoor weddings and boho themes, rustic signage typically includes wooden boards, chalkboards, or signs with a distressed finish. You can use calligraphy or hand-painted lettering to create an earthy and vintage vibe!
2. Modern: Clean lines, minimalist fonts, and sleek materials define modern wedding signage! Acrylic boards, metal signs, or neon lights in bold colors can add a contemporary touch to your wedding decor.
3. Vintage: If you love all things retro, vintage signage is for you. Think ornate frames, cursive fonts, and aged finishes. Vintage signage adds an old-world charm, creating a romantic atmosphere!
4. Whimsical: Playful and dreamy, whimsical wedding signage often features whimsical illustrations, watercolor backgrounds, and creative typography! It adds a touch of whimsy and imagination to your celebration.

Messages and Personalization

Wedding signage can be more than just informative – it gives you a chance to infuse your personalities and messages into the event. Here are some ideas for personalized wedding signage messages:
1. Welcome Message: Add a heartfelt welcome message to make your guests feel cherished and appreciated!
2. Love Quotes: Display your favorite love quotes or personal vows on signage throughout the venue, creating an atmosphere of love and romance!

3. Timeline of Events: Share the timeline of the day's events and keep your guests informed and excited about what's to come!
4. Thank You Signs: Express your gratitude and thank your friends and family for celebrating this special day with you!

Remember, wedding signage should effectively communicate important information while complementing the overall theme and style of your wedding.

DIY or Hire a Professional?

Depending on your preferences and artistic skills, you can decide whether to create wedding signage yourself or hire a professional. DIY wedding signage can be a fun and cost-effective project, especially if you enjoy crafts and calligraphy. However, hiring a professional ensures high-quality signs that match your vision and saves you time and stress.

In conclusion, wedding signage is a fantastic way to add charm, personality, and clarity to your wedding day. From welcoming guests to guiding them through the venue, creative signage can elevate the overall experience. So, express your personal style, choose the right type of signage, and let the artistic details bring magic to your special day! Happy planning! :-)

Things to Consider When Having a Wedding in Hawaii During the Holidays

Are you dreaming of a white sandy beach christmas? A romantic wedding in paradise might be the perfect idea for you! Hawaii's stunning beaches, tropical landscapes, and warm weather make it a picture-perfect location for tying the knot! And if you're planning a wedding during the holidays, this beautiful island destination can add an extra touch of magic to your special day!

However, there are a few important things to consider when having a wedding in Hawaii during the holiday season. In this blog post, we'll explore the key factors you should keep in mind to ensure your dream wedding goes smoothly!

Availability and Cost

The holiday season is a popular time for tourism in Hawaii, so it's crucial to plan well in advance and secure your preferred date and venue. Many hotels and venues get booked quickly during this time, so take this into account when setting your wedding date. Additionally, keep in mind that prices may be higher during the holidays due to increased demand. Planning ahead will give you more options and a better chance of finding affordable accommodations and vendors!

Travel and Accommodations for Guests

Photography: Keani Bakula

Consider the travel arrangements and accommodations for your guests when planning a wedding during the holidays. Flights and accommodations tend to fill up quickly, so informing your guests about your wedding date well in advance is essential! Providing them with a list of recommended accommodations and any special discounts or group rates can help make their travel planning easier. Additionally, keep in mind that holiday travel can be more expensive, so some guests may need to budget accordingly.

Weather Considerations

Hawaii is known for its incredible weather throughout the year, but the holiday season may bring some unique weather patterns. While the islands enjoy warm temperatures year-round, the winter months can bring occasional rain showers or stronger trade winds. It's wise to have a backup plan in case of rain or inclement weather. Most resorts and venues in Hawaii have indoor options or covered areas that can be utilized if needed. Having a backup plan will ensure that your ceremony proceeds smoothly regardless of the weather conditions!

Festive Decor and Attire

Embrace the holiday spirit and infuse festive elements into your wedding decor and attire. Incorporate seasonal colors, such as deep reds, greens, and golds, into your floral arrangements, bridal party attire, and table settings. Utilize string lights, candles, and other holiday-inspired decor to create a warm and glowing ambiance! Encourage your guests to dress in semi-formal or resort attire with a touch of holiday elegance. These small touches will add a unique holiday flair and make your wedding feel even more magical.

As hotel venues are often “dressed up” for the holidays as well, christmas trees and other festive decor may also be set-up in the lobby and ballroom of the resort! Creating a holiday backdrop for your wedding photos!

Remember, planning a wedding in Hawaii during the holidays (especially!) can be an unforgettable experience! By considering these key factors, you'll be well-prepared to create the wedding of your dreams in this tropical paradise! From securing your preferred date and venue to accommodating your guests' travel plans, attention to detail will ensure a magical and stress-free celebration!

So, get ready to say "I do" in Hawaii this holiday season, surrounded by the beauty and enchantment of the islands! :-)

How to Prepare for an Initial Consultation With a Wedding Planner

Planning a wedding can be an overwhelming experience, which is why many couples turn to professional wedding planners for assistance! These experts possess the knowledge and expertise to transform your dreams into reality while minimizing stress and ensuring a smooth wedding planning journey! :-)

The initial consultation with a wedding planner is a crucial step in the process, as it sets the foundation for a successful partnership. To make the most of this meeting, here are some tips on how to prepare!

Establish your wedding vision

Before meeting with a wedding planner, take some time to articulate your wedding vision. Discuss with your partner what type of wedding you both envision—consider the theme, style, location, color palette, and any specific elements that are important to you. Having a clear vision will help you communicate effectively with the wedding planner and ensure they understand your desires!

Photography: Embr Photo | Venue: Hyatt Regency Waikiki

Determine your budget

Weddings can vary greatly in cost, so it's vital to establish a budget before your initial consultation. This will provide the wedding planner with a framework to work within and guide their recommendations. Be honest about your budget limitations and priorities, as this will enable the planner to suggest suitable options that align with your financial goals!

Florist: Always Flowers 808 Photography: Stephen Ludwig

Gather inspiration and ideas

Create a wedding mood board by collecting magazine clippings, Pinterest pins, or screenshots of weddings that inspire you. This will help the wedding planner better understand your style and preferences. Additionally, gather any images of specific details or elements you'd like to incorporate into your wedding, such as floral arrangements, table settings, or ceremony backdrops.

Prepare a list of questions

During the initial consultation, it's essential to gather as much information as possible to ensure a solid understanding of the wedding planner's services, experience, and approach. Prepare a list of questions, such as:

  • What services do you offer? Are there any additional fees?

  • How do you handle vendor selection and coordination?

  • How will you communicate with us throughout the planning process?

  • How do you charge (flat rate, hourly, and/or a percentage)?

  • How long have you been doing this?

These questions will give you a better idea of the planner's capabilities and whether they are the right fit for your needs.

Compile necessary documents

To make your consultation more efficient, bring any essential documents related to your wedding. These may include contracts with vendors you have already booked, venue information, guest lists, or any other relevant details. By having this information on hand, the wedding planner can provide more accurate recommendations and guidance tailored to your specific situation!

Maintain an open mind

While it's important to have a vision for your wedding, remember to keep an open mind during the initial consultation. Professional wedding planners have extensive experience and creative ideas that can enhance your wedding day. Be receptive to their suggestions and recommendations, as they often come from a place of expertise and a desire to help you create something truly memorable.

Follow up after the consultation

After meeting with a wedding planner, take time to reflect on the consultation and whether you feel a connection with the planner. If you are comfortable and excited about their ideas and approach, don't hesitate to follow up promptly to secure their services. Wedding planners often have limited availability, so it's important to finalize your decision in a timely manner!

By following these steps, you'll be well-prepared for your initial consultation with a wedding planner. This meeting sets the stage for a successful planning journey, ensuring that your wedding day becomes everything you envisioned and more. Remember, collaboration and effective communication with your wedding planner are fundamental to creating the wedding of your dreams. Happy planning! :-)

Things to Consider When Having Your Family and Friends Help at Your Wedding

Planning a wedding is undoubtedly a daunting task, but it can be made easier with the support of your loved ones. If you are considering involving your family and friends in the wedding preparations, there are several important factors to keep in mind. In this blog post, we will explore some key considerations when having your family and friends help at your wedding!

1. Know Their Strengths

Before delegating tasks to your family and friends, it is essential to understand their skills and abilities. Determine which tasks can be entrusted to them based on their expertise and experience. For example, if your aunt is known for her floral arrangements, she might be the perfect fit to handle the wedding bouquets vs. a family member that wants to help but has doesn’t have experience in this area.

2. Clearly Define Expectations

To avoid any misunderstandings or miscommunications, clearly define your expectations when asking for help. Have open and honest conversations with your loved ones about your vision for the wedding and the tasks you would like them to take on. Establishing clear boundaries and deadlines will help everyone stay on the same page!

3. Consider Their Availability

While it is wonderful to have your family and friends involved, keep in mind that they have their own commitments and responsibilities. Be mindful of their availability and make sure to communicate well in advance. Giving them enough time to plan and adjust their schedules will help ensure they can contribute effectively without feeling overwhelmed!

4. Professional versus Personal Relationships

When involving family and friends in your wedding, it is important to consider the distinction between professional and personal relationships. You may have close friends who are excellent photographers or musicians, but it's crucial to remember that they might want to enjoy the celebrations as guests rather than work the event. Respect their boundaries and discuss expectations beforehand.

5. Prepare for Potential Challenges

Involving family and friends in your wedding can bring joy and an extra layer of personal touch. However, it is crucial to be prepared for potential challenges that may arise. Personal dynamics, conflicting ideas, or last-minute changes can occasionally complicate matters. Communicate openly, anticipate potential issues, and have backup plans in place to minimize stress and ensure a smooth wedding day!

6. Express Gratitude

Last but not least, always express your gratitude to those who are helping you make your dream wedding a reality. From the smallest tasks to the most significant contributions, make sure to acknowledge their efforts and show appreciation. Consider giving small tokens of thanks or heartfelt letters to express your gratitude for their invaluable support!

All in all, involving your family and friends in your wedding can enhance the experience and add a personal touch. However, it is essential to consider their skills, availability, and the dynamics of your relationships. By setting clear expectations, being prepared for challenges, and expressing gratitude, you can create a memorable and meaningful experience for everyone involved. With a strong support system, your wedding day will be nothing short of perfection! :-)

All About Wedding Cakes: Styles, Flavors, What to do With Leftovers and MORE!

As wedding bells ring and love fills the air, there's one iconic centerpiece that steals the show - the wedding cake! It's a delectable work of art that not only completes the wedding reception but also leaves a lasting impression on guests. From styles to flavors and what to do with leftovers, let's delve into the world of wedding cakes and discover everything you need to know to make your special day even more delicious! :-)

Styles of Wedding Cakes

Traditionally, wedding cakes were limited to round tiers of white fondant, adorned with intricate piped designs. However, modern couples are breaking away from convention and embracing more personalized and creative options. The wedding cake has evolved into a canvas where couples can express their unique style, personality, and love story! Here are a few wedding cake styles to consider for your SWEET day!

  • Traditional Tiered Cakes: These elegant cakes are a timeless choice, consisting of stacked tiers adorned with intricate designs and embellishments. They can be custom-made to match your wedding theme and color scheme, making them a classic and versatile option.

  • Semi-Naked or “Dirty Iced” Cakes: For a rustic or bohemian wedding, naked or semi-naked cakes are a popular choice. These cakes have minimal frosting on the outside, showcasing the layers within. They are often decorated with fresh flowers or fruit, offering a simple yet stunning appearance.

  • Whimsical Fondant Cakes: Fondant cakes provide endless possibilities for creativity. With a smooth and flawless finish, fondant allows for intricate designs, sculpted details, and patterns. From whimsical fairytale-themed cakes to intricate lacework, this style is tailor-made to express your personality.

Flavors to Tantalize Your Taste Buds

Gone are the days of choosing between plain vanilla or chocolate. Couples today are opting for a wide array of flavors that tantalize the taste buds. From luscious red velvet and indulgent salted caramel to tropical passionfruit and refreshing lemon zest, there's a flavor to suit every palate! If you’re getting married at a hotel, chat with your banquet manager to see what unique options your venue offers!

Also consider using different flavors per tier to give you and your guests a wide variety to enjoy! This is a great option if there are two or more flavors you love OR want to make sure any picky eaters have the ability to choose which cake flavor they want to eat.

What to do With Leftover Wedding Cake

Once the festivities are over, you might find yourself with leftover cake. Don't let it go to waste! Here are a few creative ideas to make the most of it:

  • Freeze It: A tradition some couples still follow is taking home the top tier of their wedding cake and freezing it to eat one year later on their first wedding anniversary! If this is something you want to do, make sure you communicate this with your coordinator and banquet manager to ensure that the top tier is saved for you and not served on your wedding day!

  • Host a Post-Wedding Brunch: Invite close friends and family for a post-wedding brunch to prolong the celebration. Serve the leftover cake as a centerpiece dessert, complemented by mimosas and coffee!

  • Pack your Guests a “Cake”-out order: Like “Take-out” have your leftover cake packed in small containers that your guests can take home with them as they leave your reception! They’ll be able to enjoy it up to a few days after your wedding and reminisce on that sweet day!

Tips for Serving Cake at Your Wedding

  • Communication is Key: Inform your venue or caterer about the cake-cutting ceremony and ensure they have the necessary utensils, plates, and napkins. Collaborate with them to decide on the ideal timing, so your guests can eagerly anticipate slicing into your beautiful creation.

  • Photography Opportunities: Let your photographer know about the cake cutting in advance, so they can capture those special moments. Discuss the desired angles and lighting arrangements to ensure stunning photos that you can treasure forever.

  • Serving Options: Decide on the serving style that suits your wedding best. Whether you opt for plated slices served at the table or a dessert table where guests can help themselves, make sure there are clear instructions to maintain a smooth flow and guarantee everyone gets a slice!

Photography: IMF Visions

Personalizing with Purpose

Wedding cakes are no longer just beautiful centerpieces; they now hold deeper meaning. Couples are incorporating personal elements into their cake designs as a reflection of their journey together. This might include intricate sugar flowers symbolizing the couple's favorite blooms or sugar crystals representing their shared love for travel.
Some couples even opt for custom cake toppers that resemble their unique features, hobbies, or beloved pets. It's an opportunity for personal expression and a memorable conversation starter.

The wedding cake has undoubtedly moved beyond a simple dessert item to become an essential piece of the wedding puzzle! From flavor choices to how to serve your special dessert, couples are investing time and effort into creating a sweet masterpiece that embodies their love story! So, as you prepare for your big day or join in the celebration of others, remember to appreciate the artistry and thoughtfulness that goes into every slice of wedding cake. It's a sweet delight that brings joy, love, and a touch of magic to every wedding celebration! :-)

The Wedding Tradition vs. The Wedding Trend

Weddings are steeped in tradition, with time-honored customs passed down through generations. Yet, just like fashion and technology, wedding trends evolve too. In this blog post, we will delve into some popular wedding traditions and examine how they compare to the current trends embraced by couples today. From the moment couples first lay eyes on each other to the accessories they choose to wear, let's explore the fascinating world of wedding customs and current traditions!

Tradition: Waiting till the Ceremony vs. The Trend: The First Look

Traditionally, couples waited until the ceremony to see each other for the big reveal! This increased the anticipation and romanticism, as the groom would catch his first glimpse of the bride walking down the aisle. However, a contemporary trend called the "first look" challenges this tradition. Couples now opt to meet privately before the ceremony, capturing their genuine emotions in an intimate setting. This approach creates a more relaxed atmosphere, allowing for stunning pre-wedding photos without missing out on the emotional impact of the ceremonial reveal! NOTE: Did you know that NOT seeing each other before the ceremony started because marriages were arranged and if either the Bride or Groom saw each other before the ceremony (and didn’t like what they say), it was common that person would not show up and the ceremony would not take place? Understanding where traditions and superstitions come from can be more important that the actual tradition.

Tradition: Bouquet & Garter Toss vs. The Trend: alternative ways

The bouquet toss and garter toss have long been popular wedding traditions. Symbolizing good luck and fertility, these customs often amused guests while adding a touch of fun to the celebration. However, many modern couples now view these traditions as outdated or uncomfortable. Instead, they choose to focus on creating a more inclusive environment, opting for alternatives such as passing on the bouquet to a loved one, or organizing a group dance where everyone can participate equally! Couples have even put a spin on the garter toss, having the groom wear the garter and the bride remove it!

Photography: Mike Pham Photography | Kris Labang Photography

Tradition: wearing a veil vs. The Trend: various hair pieces

For centuries, brides have worn veils as a symbol of purity, modesty, and the anticipation of the groom's first glimpse. However, with changing attitudes towards gender and the desire for more personalized expressions, the tradition of wearing a veil has become increasingly optional. Modern brides now have the freedom to tailor their attire to reflect their personal styles, whether that means wearing a veil, a delicate hairpiece, or choosing to forego any headwear altogether. In Hawaii, you can often see brides wearing a beautiful haku lei on their heads!

from tradition to trends

In addition to revisiting traditional customs, couples nowadays embrace alternative wedding trends that showcase their unique personalities and love stories. Some opt for themed weddings that transport their guests to another era or destination, while others choose to elope in intimate settings or celebrate their union in unconventional venues. Personalized vows, environmentally-friendly wedding favors, and creative food and drink presentations are also gaining popularity, allowing couples to infuse their weddings with authentic touches that perfectly reflect who they are as individuals and as a couple!

Photography: VIVIDfotos

While wedding traditions serve as a beautiful reminder of our past, it is heartening to witness the gradual transformation of these customs into modern trends that reflect who we are today. From the first look to the alternative wedding venues, couples are embracing their freedom to craft their perfect day on their own terms. As we move forward, it remains important to cherish the rituals and customs that hold significance for us, while also embracing the new trends that allow our wedding celebrations to be an authentic expression of love and joy! :-)

All About Wedding Tables: Types, Styles, and Floor Plan Ideas for Your Wedding Reception

As you start planning your dream wedding, one essential aspect to consider is the design and layout of your wedding tables. From the types of tables available to styling options and various floor plan ideas, let's explore all you need to know about wedding tables for your reception!

Types of Wedding Tables

When it comes to choosing the right tables for your wedding reception, there are a few popular types to consider:

  • Round Tables: Round tables are a classic choice for weddings. They create an intimate and inclusive atmosphere, allowing guests to easily interact with one another and facilitating conversation.

  • Rectangular Tables: Rectangular tables provide a more formal and structured seating arrangement. They are perfect for elegant, modern, or minimalist weddings and work well in long, narrow reception venues.

  • Banquet Tables: Banquet tables are long, rectangular tables commonly used for family-style dining. They create a warm and communal setting, ideal for sharing platters and creating a convivial atmosphere.

  • Sweetheart Table: For the happy couple who wants an intimate setting, a sweetheart table is a perfect choice. This small table is placed at the center of the reception, ensuring the couple has their own special space to celebrate together.

Styling Your Wedding Tables

Once you've chosen the type of tables for your wedding reception, it's time to consider the styling options. Here are a few ideas to make your tables look breathtaking:

  • Table Linens: Choose linens that complement your color scheme and overall theme. From crisp white tablecloths to elegant lace overlays or vibrant patterned runners, linens add a touch of sophistication and tie the design elements together.

  • Centerpieces: Centerpieces are a focal point of every wedding table. Whether you opt for floral arrangements, rustic lanterns, or vintage vases, choose centerpieces that match your style and desired ambiance.

  • Place Settings: Elegant place settings contribute to the overall look and feel of your wedding tables. Ensure each guest has a proper table setting with well-coordinated tableware, including charger plates, flatware, glassware, and folded napkins.

  • Decorative Accents: Consider incorporating decorative accents such as candles, table numbers, or personalized placeholders to add a personal touch to each table.

Creative Floor Plan Ideas

Now that you have an idea of table options and styling, it's time to think about the best floor plan for your wedding reception. Here are a few creative ideas:

  • Traditional U-Shape: This classic floor plan allows you to create a focal point at the center, such as a dance floor or head table, while providing a clear line of sight for all guests.

  • Long Banquet Style: Arrange several rectangular tables in a long row for a family-style seating arrangement. This is perfect for a cozy and communal atmosphere.

  • Mixed Seating: Create a dynamic layout by combining different table shapes and sizes. Consider mixing round and rectangular tables, alternating arrangements for a visually appealing design.

  • Cocktail Style: If you prefer a more casual atmosphere, consider cocktail-style seating with highboy tables and lounge furniture. This encourages mingling and conversation in a relaxed setting.

  • Serene Outdoor Reception: If you're hosting an outdoor wedding, consider natural surroundings when planning table placement. Create an organic flow by aligning tables with stunning views or framing the dance floor under a starry sky.

Remember, the ultimate goal is to create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for your guests while reflecting your personal style as a couple!

When it comes to wedding tables, there are endless possibilities to explore. The type of tables, styling options, and floor plan ideas will set the stage for an unforgettable wedding reception. So, take your time, envision your dream wedding, and let your imagination guide you as you create the perfect table settings for your special day!

What to Buy & What to Rent on Your Wedding Day

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, so naturally, you want everything to be perfect! From the venue to the decorations and the attire, there are a lot of decisions to be made. One question that often comes up is whether to BUY or RENT certain items for your big day. To help you make the best choices, we have compiled a list of some things to consider when choosing what to buy and what to rent on your wedding day!

NOTE: We will be skipping the obvious items such as buying wedding rings and renting the venue and just mention the items/services that may be more difficult to decide whether to rent or buy!

Photography: Bianca Photography | Venue: Kahala Resort

What to Buy

1. Personalized Decorations

Adding personalized touches to your wedding day can make it even more special. Although there are many wonderful rentable options for decor (which we go into more in the next section) IF the customized item you want is very specific and can’t be found as a rental then it’s a good idea to find the specific one you want and purchase it for your special day! Decor items we typically see purchased by couples at their stationary, signage, and place setting decors that reflect your unique style and wedding theme. These items can later be repurposed as home decor or for other special occasions!

2. Fresh Florals

If fresh florals are an absolute must on your wedding priorities list, then this is something to buy for your special day! Their natural beauty, unique scents, eco-friendliness, and symbolic meanings make them an ideal choice for couples who want to embrace the freshness and natural charm that fresh florals offer. However as fresh florals tend to be fairly expensive, we highly recommend reviewing your budget to ensure that this is something that will fit into your budget rather than make your budget fit to it.

3. Items You Would be Able to Use Again

When deciding whether you want to buy or rent an item ask yourself would you be able to use it again? If not, consider renting! If so, consider buying it! Another question to ask yourself is could someone else you know use it OR could this be something that you could sell? For instance, if you’re deciding whether to buy vases for your centerpieces or to rent the items, ask yourself these questions to see if it would be something worth buying! If so you would be able to justify your purchase and even be something that you could get your money back on!

What to Rent

1. Decor/Linen

Renting decor and linens saves you from the hassle of buying and storing items that you may never use again. This means you can have a wider array of options to choose from for your wedding theme without worrying about the cost or clutter. As we mentioned above, though you can purchase customized decor pieces, there are also many options to customize your own rented decor to make it personal to you but also something that you can easily return and not have to worry about storing after your special day! NOTE: *Don’t forget that if you purchase anything, you will need to determine helpers to deliver, set it up, and break it down for you too!!

2. Faux Florals

If you’re looking for an alternative to fresh florals due to the price or to avoid allergies but still want flowers on your special day, consider renting faux florals! These silk alternatives offer several benefits, like durability and no need for immediate attention, making them perfect for a destination wedding or an outdoor event where real flowers may wilt! Faux florals also provide versatile options, as you can choose from an extensive range of blooms that may not be available locally or may be out of season and they are a much more affordable option then fresh florals.

3. Audio and Lighting Equipment

To ensure that your vows and speeches are heard loud and clear, renting quality audio equipment is essential. Specialty lighting can also enhance the ambiance of your wedding venue, highlighting the romantic and celebratory atmosphere. Renting this equipment will save you from having to purchase expensive technology that you might not use frequently. As many hotel venues and DJs/Bands include audio and equipment lighting in their packages, consider looking for these items when choosing your venue or entertainment vendor!

At the end of the day every wedding is different, and your preferences and budget will determine whether buying or renting is the best option. By considering this guide, you can make informed decisions that will make your wedding day even more memorable. Happy planning! :-)

7 Tips for Planning a Wedding in Hawaii on a Budget

Dreaming of a tropical wedding in Hawaii but worried about the cost? Don't fret! With some smart planning and a little creativity, you can have your dream wedding on the beautiful islands without breaking the bank. Here are some tips to help you plan a wedding in Hawaii on a budget!

1. Choose the Right Time

Timing is everything, especially when it comes to planning a budget-friendly wedding in Hawaii. And even more so if you will be flying to the islands to say “I Do” check flight prices as that cost will not only be a large expense for you, but for any of your guests who plan to travel to your wedding. Consider getting married during the offseason time in the year. You'll find more affordable rates for accommodations, venues, and other wedding-related services during this time.

2. Keep the Guest List Intimate

Limiting the number of guests can make a huge difference in your wedding budget. Consider inviting only close family and friends to keep costs down. A smaller guest list means less money spent on meals, rentals, and other expenses. And let's face it, an intimate gathering typically creates a more personal and memorable experience!

3. DIY Decorations

Spend some time getting creative and crafty by DIY-ing your wedding decorations. Incorporate natural elements like seashells, tropical flowers, and driftwood into your centerpieces and bouquets. You can also enlist the help of friends and family to create beautiful, unique decorations that reflect your personal style! If you make your own decorations, just make sure you have the manpower to set it up and break it down.

4. Research Local Vendors

Do your homework and research local vendors who offer competitive prices. Look for vendors who specialize in intimate or small-scale weddings, as they may offer more affordable packages. Don't be afraid to negotiate and ask for discounts. Many vendors are willing to work within your budget, especially during the offseason!

5. Consider Weekday Weddings

Although Saturdays are the most popular wedding day, consider having your wedding on a weekday. Venues and vendors tend to be more available and less expensive from Monday to Thursday. Additionally, flights and accommodations for you and your guests may also be cheaper during weekdays, helping you save even more money!

6. Rent Instead of Buy

Instead of going all out and purchasing expensive florals and decor pieces, consider renting theses item! They not only will they be cheaper than if you were to purchase them but you also won’t have to worry about what to do with them after your special day, which especially comes in handy for a destination wedding! Renting instead of buying most items will allow you to have more money allocated in your budget for things that you are unable to rent such as vendor services, and favors.

7. Prioritize What Matters to You

Lastly, and most importantly prioritize the elements of your wedding that are most important to you! If having a beautiful outdoor ceremony with breathtaking views is your dream, allocate more of your budget towards the venue and photographer! By focusing on your priorities, you can allocate your budget more effectively and have the wedding you've always envisioned.

Not sure what your priorities are? Check out our blog sharing how to create a wedding priorities list HERE!

Things to Consider When Having a Live Band at Your Wedding

Your wedding day is one of the most memorable and significant events in your life. It's a day filled with love, laughter, and joy. To make your big day even more unforgettable, many couples opt for the magic and charm of a live band. Having live music at your wedding can elevate the atmosphere and create a truly unique and personal experience for you and your guests. However, there are a few things to consider when booking a live band for your wedding. Let's dive into some key factors to ensure a seamless and marvelous performance.

1. Budget

Before you start looking for a live band, determine your budget. Live bands vary in terms of size, experience, and popularity, so understanding your financial limitations will help you narrow down your options. Remember to factor in any additional costs, such as travel expenses or accommodations if the band is coming from another location.

2. Music Genre and Song Selection

Consider the music genres you and your partner enjoy and select a live band that specializes in those styles. Whether you're into jazz, pop, rock, or even Hawaiian music, finding a band that aligns with your taste will ensure everyone is tapping their feet and dancing the night away. Discuss your preferred song list with the band to make sure they can accommodate your requests!

3. Venue Restrictions

When choosing a live band, keep your wedding venue in mind. Some venues have noise restrictions, space limitations, or specific regulations that might affect your choice of band. Double-check with your venue coordinator to ensure that live music is allowed and if there are any restrictions or guidelines the band must follow.

4. Band Experience

Ask about the band's experience performing at weddings. Weddings require specific skills and a level of professionalism to create a seamless flow and engagement with the guests. Inquire about their wedding repertoire, references from previous clients, and if they have ever performed at your chosen venue before. An experienced band will be adaptable, skilled at reading the crowd, and able to bring the right energy to create an unforgettable atmosphere.

5. Sound System and Equipment

Check if the band provides their own sound system and equipment, or if you need to arrange for it separately. A quality sound system is crucial to ensure the band's performance is heard clearly by all guests. Inquire about any technical requirements from the band, such as power outlets, stage size, or soundcheck time, to ensure everything is set up properly before the wedding day.

6. Logistics and Timing

Discuss logistical details with the band to ensure they know the timeline of your wedding. Coordinate when they should start and finish playing, including breaks and any special moments you want the band to highlight. Communicate any specific announcements, speeches, or themes you want them to incorporate into their performance. Make sure everyone is aware of the plan to avoid any confusion during the event.

7. Contracts and Agreements

Protect yourself and the band by having a written contract that outlines all the expectations, fees, and deliverables. Review and understand the terms and conditions before signing anything. Ensure the contract includes details such as performance duration, payment schedule, cancellation policies, and any additional services requested. Having a clear agreement will provide peace of mind for both parties and avoid any potential misunderstandings.

Having a live band at your wedding can add a touch of magic and make your celebration even more remarkable. By taking these considerations into account, you'll be well-prepared to choose the perfect band for your special day. Remember that planning ahead, communicating clearly, and making informed decisions will contribute to a flawless performance and an unforgettable wedding that you and your guests will cherish for a lifetime! :-)

How to Choose Your Wedding Dress for an Outdoor Ceremony in Hawaii

Photography: Mike Pham Photography | Officiant: Grant Gomes | Venue: Hawaii Vista Weddings

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding in beautiful Hawaii nei! Planning a wedding can be both exciting and overwhelming, and one of the most important decisions you'll make is choosing the perfect wedding dress! If you’re thinking of having an outdoor ceremony in Hawaii, you'll want to consider a few factors to ensure your dress is both stunning and comfortable for the tropical setting. Here are some essential tips to guide you in selecting the ideal dress for your special day!

Embrace Lightweight Fabrics

Our Hawaiian climate is known for its warmth and humidity, particularly if you're getting married in the summer months. To stay cool and comfortable, consider choosing a wedding dress that’s made from lightweight and breathable fabrics like chiffon, organza, or silk. These materials allow for better airflow, preventing you from feeling overly hot or sweaty during your ceremony. Also, consider avoiding heavy layers, heavy embellishments, or ballgown silhouettes, as they can be prohibitive in hot weather.

Opt for a Flowy Silhouette

When selecting the silhouette of your wedding dress, consider a style that allows for ease of movement. A-line, sheath, or fit-and-flare dresses are excellent options for an outdoor ceremony in Hawaii. These styles not only provide comfort but also give you the flexibility to move around effortlessly, whether you're walking on the beach, dancing under the stars, or taking memorable wedding photos against the stunning Hawaiian backdrop.

Photography: Bianca Photography | Venue: Kahala Resort

Embrace the Hawaiian Vibe

Embracing the essence of Hawaii can add a touch of magic to your wedding dress choice. You may consider incorporating subtle Hawaiian elements into your dress design, such as floral lace patterns, delicate tropical-inspired embroidery, or even the inclusion of a fresh flower lei. These accents can beautifully enhance your dress while paying homage to the vibrant culture and natural beauty of Hawaii.

Consider Practicality

An outdoor ceremony calls for some practical considerations, including the length of your dress. If you're getting married on the beach or another outdoor setting where it might be challenging to navigate through sand or uneven terrain, opting for a dress with a slightly shorter hemline can reduce the risk of tripping or getting your dress dirty. Tea-length or knee-length dresses are excellent alternatives that exude a casual elegance while keeping you safe from any potential mishaps.

If you love the idea of having a dress with a long train consider one that has a bustle so that you can easily bustle the dress for movement and dancing after your ceremony!

Emphasize Comfort and Versatility

Comfort is paramount on your wedding day, allowing you to enjoy every moment without worrying about any dress-related issues. Ensure that your dress fits you perfectly and provides enough room for sitting, dancing, and moving around gracefully. Avoiding heavy corsets or tight-fitting bodices that might restrict your breathing or movement is something to consider. Additionally, choosing a dress that complements the climate and surroundings of Hawaii will make you feel more at ease and confident throughout your special day!

Final Thoughts

Choosing your wedding dress for an outdoor ceremony in Hawaii is an opportunity to embrace the beauty and laid-back vibe of the islands. With lightweight fabrics, flowy silhouettes, Hawaiian-inspired details, and practicality in mind, you can find the perfect dress that harmonizes with the tropical surroundings and ensures your comfort on your big day. But remember, the most important thing is to choose a dress that makes you feel like the radiant person you are, allowing you to enjoy every moment of your wedding day!

7 Ways to Add Personalization to Your Wedding

Your wedding day is one of the most significant moments in your life, and what better way to make it truly unforgettable than by adding personal touches that reflect your unique love story? By infusing elements that are meaningful and special to you as a couple, you can create a celebration that truly represents who you are. From customized vows to personalized décor, here are some creative ways to add personalization to your dream wedding! :-)

1. Customized Invitations

Start your personalized wedding journey from the very beginning - your invitations! Instead of opting for generic wedding invites, consider designing custom invitations that reflect your style and personality. Incorporate colors, themes, or symbols that hold significance to you as a couple. Whether you're into rustic designs, modern minimalism, or whimsical illustrations, let your invitations set the tone for your unique wedding celebration!

2. Meaningful Venues

Choosing a location that holds special meaning to both of you can add an extra layer of personalization to your wedding. Exchange vows at the place you first met, a favorite park, or even in the comfort of your own backyard. If you can't choose a single location, consider creating a wedding itinerary that includes multiple spots significant to your relationship, allowing your guests to fully immerse themselves in your love story!

3. Personalized Vows

Writing your own vows gives you an opportunity to express your love and commitment in your own words. Share your unique journey, recount heartfelt memories, and make promises that are significant to you as a couple. Personalized vows not only add a touch of authenticity to your ceremony but also create a more intimate and emotional experience for you and your guests.

4. Creative Guestbook Ideas

Instead of a traditional guestbook, explore unique alternatives that reflect your personalities. Have guests sign a photo album filled with pictures of your relationship, or ask them to leave notes on small pieces of fabric that can later be crafted into a quilt or wall hanging. These personalized guestbook ideas will create lasting memories for years to come.

5. Customized Décor & Favors

Infuse your wedding décor with elements that hold sentimental value. Display framed photos of your relationship milestones, use family heirlooms as centerpieces, or incorporate objects that represent your shared interests and passions. Personalize your wedding signage, table numbers, and place cards with unique designs or quotes that reflect your love story. These small personal touches will create a warm and inviting atmosphere for your guests. As a favor is a small gift given from the couple to each of their guests this is a great way to give them a personalized item that they can keep with them and can look back and remember your sweet day!

Photography: Embr Photo

6. Signature Cocktails

Create signature cocktails named after meaningful moments or memories from your relationship. Consider your favorite drink together, the place where you had your first date, or funny nicknames you have for each other. The signature cocktails will not only add a personal touch to your wedding but also make for great conversation starters and memorable experiences for your guests.

7. Meaningful Music

Choose songs that hold special significance to you both as a couple. Whether it's the song that played during your first dance or the melody that always brings back precious memories, make sure to add these meaningful tracks to your wedding playlist. Incorporate different genres or create a custom playlist that showcases your unique musical journey together.

Your wedding day should be a reflection of your love story, and by incorporating these personalized touches, you can create an unforgettable experience for you and your guests. From personalized invites to meaningful venues, let every detail showcase your unique journey as a couple. Remember, it's your day, so make it a celebration that truly captures the essence of your love.

Things to Consider When Having a Destination Wedding in Hawaii

Are you dreaming of exchanging vows in a tropical paradise? Hawaii is undoubtedly one of the most enchanting destinations to say "I do." With its stunning landscapes, warm weather, and welcoming culture, it's no wonder why couples from around the world choose Hawaii as their wedding destination! However, planning a destination wedding can be an exciting yet challenging experience. To ensure your special day is flawless, here are some essential things to consider when having a destination wedding in Hawaii! :-)

1. Location, Location, Location

Hawaii offers a plethora of breathtaking venues suitable for your dream wedding. From picturesque beaches to lush gardens and elegant resorts, you'll be spoiled for choice. Consider the vibe you want for your wedding and select a location that aligns with your vision. Remember to also think about your guests and their accessibility to the venue, as some remote locations may require additional lodging and transportation arrangements.

A hotel venue is a great option to consider for a destination wedding! As majority of your guests will most likely be traveling to attend your wedding, having their accomdation be the same place where you’re trying the knot will save them from having to worry about transportation on your special day.

2. Weather and Seasonality

While Hawaii boasts a year-round tropical climate, it's important to familiarize yourself with the weather conditions during your desired wedding month. The islands have a varied microclimate, and certain areas may experience different weather patterns. Be mindful of the potential for rain or high temperatures, especially if you plan an outdoor ceremony. Consider appropriate backup options such as an indoor venue or tents if needed.

3. Guest Accommodations

When inviting guests to a destination wedding, it's crucial to consider their accommodations and make the process as seamless as possible. Research different types of accommodations available, including hotels, resorts, vacation rentals, and even group bookings. Providing a range of options with varying price points will accommodate guests with different budgets and preferences.

Photography: Embr Photo | Venue: Kahala Resort

Additionally consider the timing of when you are having your wedding! Is it on a 3 day holiday weekend where your guests may not need to request for time off? Or during school breaks/peak travel season where many may be traveling with their families and flights are on the more expensive side? Thinking about the WHEN of your wedding can greatly affect the number of guests that will be able to attend your special day!

4. Wedding Planner Assistance

Hiring a professional wedding planner in Hawaii is highly recommended. An experienced planner will alleviate stress, guide you through the entire process, and connect you with trusted vendors on the islands. They will ensure that all necessary permits and paperwork are obtained, and they can provide invaluable advice on local customs and traditions!

5. Legal Requirements

Familiarize yourself with the legal requirements for getting married in Hawaii. Obtaining a marriage license is relatively easy, but specific documents and procedures are necessary. Ensure you arrive at least a few days before the wedding to complete any obligatory paperwork and meet the local regulations.

6. Budget Considerations

Destination weddings can be costly, so establishing a realistic budget is essential. Take into account travel expenses, accommodations, venue fees, vendors, and any additional activities you plan for your guests. Keep in mind that prices may vary depending on the time of year or specific location. Prioritize what's most important to you and allocate funds accordingly.

7. Cultural Sensitivity

Hawaii is rich in traditions and cultural customs that should be respected and integrated into your wedding celebrations. Embracing the spirit of aloha and incorporating elements of Hawaiian culture can add a unique touch to your special day. Consult your wedding planner or local resources to ensure you approach these traditions with sensitivity and understanding.

Planning a destination wedding in Hawaii can be an unforgettable experience for couples and their guests. By considering these essential factors, you can ensure a seamless and magical celebration in this tropical paradise. As you embark on this journey, remember to soak in the beauty of the islands, create lasting memories, and treasure every perfect moment of your special day in Hawaii! :-)

All About Classic Wedding Traditions & Superstitions

Planning a wedding involves making numerous decisions, from the venue and the menu to the wedding dress and the music. In this modern age, couples often strive to create a wedding that reflects their unique style and individuality. However, amidst all the modern planning, many couples still embrace classic wedding traditions and superstitions that have been passed down through generations. These customs add an aura of meaning, magic, and mystery to the big day, making it even more special and memorable. Let's explore some of these time-honored traditions and superstitions that continue to weave their charm into weddings today!

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Perhaps one of the most well-known wedding traditions, this saying has been etched into the hearts of couples for centuries. It captures the idea of incorporating specific items into the wedding outfit to bring good luck and a happy marriage.

  • The "something old" symbolizes continuity with the past and is often an heirloom, a cherished piece of jewelry, or a relative's garment.

  • The "something new" represents optimism for the future and is generally something the bride buys or receives as a gift.

  • The "something borrowed" serves as a symbol of borrowed happiness, often borrowed from a happily married friend or family member.

  • The "something blue" represents purity, love, and fidelity. Brides often incorporate a blue ribbon or a piece of blue jewelry or even blue shoes discreetly into their attire to honor this tradition, embracing these deeper meanings.

The White Wedding Dress

The white wedding dress, a classic symbol of purity and innocence, is a tradition that has stood the test of time. It was popularized by Queen Victoria, who wore a white gown for her wedding to Prince Albert in 1840. Prior to that, brides would wear dresses in different colors. Today, the white dress has become an iconic tradition, although many modern brides are also embracing alternative colors or incorporating touches of color to add a personalized twist to this tradition!

The Bridal Veil

Originating from ancient Rome, the tradition of the bridal veil carries captivating symbolism. It was believed that brides wore veils to protect themselves from evil spirits, as these malicious entities were thought to be jealous of the bride's happiness. With time, the veil became a representation of purity, modesty, and the groom's anticipation as he lifts it to unveil his beloved. Whether a bride chooses to don a veil or opt for a different headpiece, the tradition encapsulates a sense of reverence for the connection between past, present, and future!

Tossing the Bouquet and Garter

The tradition of the bride tossing her bouquet and the groom removing and tossing the garter have early roots in England. It was thought that obtaining a piece of the bride's clothing would bring good fortune. To protect the bride from eager guests, the bouquet and garter toss became a fun way to engage everyone. The single lady who catches the bouquet is believed to be the next to get married, while the man who catches the garter is considered to be the next groom. Although this tradition may seem lighthearted, many couples today still partake in this playful custom at their wedding reception to share joy and spread hope!

Rain on Your Wedding Day: Good Luck or Bad Omen?

Rain on your wedding day is often considered a symbol of good luck, despite the common belief that rain signifies bad omens. It is believed that rain brings blessings, cleansing, and fertility - all auspicious elements to start a marriage. Interestingly, in Hawaiian culture, rain is a sign of the presence of ancestors, further adding depth to the symbolism and is a good luck symbol on your special day! Rather than fretting over a drizzle, couples embracing this superstition can cherish the belief that their union is being blessed by the heavens!

Photography: E + E Photography

While modernity has opened up a myriad of possibilities for couples to personalize their wedding day, classic wedding traditions and superstitions continue to hold a special place in the hearts of many. These age-old customs bring significance, beauty, and a touch of enchantment to the occasion. Incorporating elements such as "something old, something new," the white wedding dress, the bridal veil, or the tossing of the bouquet and garter adds layers of meaning and keeps the flame of tradition burning bright. So, whether you choose to fully immerse yourself in these customs or put your own twist on them, there's no denying the magic and allure they bring to your perfect day!

After both the bride & groom were ready for their special day the couple and their family gathered to perform the tea ceremony!

Pros and Cons of Real vs. Faux Wedding Florals

When it comes to planning your dream wedding, the choice of wedding florals is a topic that cannot be taken lightly. Flowers have the power to transform any space and create an enchanting atmosphere that reflects your personal style. However, deciding between real and faux wedding florals can be a tough decision. In this blog post, we will explore the pros and cons of each, helping you make an informed choice for your special day!

Real Wedding Florals

Pros:

1. Natural Beauty: Real flowers have a stunning natural beauty and fragility that only fresh florals display. The vibrant colors, delicate textures, and sweet fragrances can add an ethereal touch to your wedding decor.
2. Seasonal Variety: With real flowers, you have the advantage of choosing from a wide array of seasonal blooms. This allows you to perfectly align your wedding aesthetic with the time of year, creating a harmonious visual experience.
3. Eco-Friendly Option: Opting for locally sourced, seasonal flowers can be an eco-friendly choice, especially if you choose organic and sustainably grown blooms. By supporting local flower farmers, you contribute to the community and reduce your carbon footprint.

Cons:

1. Limited Availability: Depending on the season and location, certain flowers may not be available for your wedding date. This could restrict your options and make it difficult to achieve your desired floral vision.
2. Perishable Nature: Real flowers are perishable and can wilt or lose freshness throughout the day. This means that you might not be able to preserve your bouquet as a keepsake after the wedding.
3. Higher Cost: Real flowers can be expensive, especially if you have a specific flower in mind that is not readily available. Additionally, the cost of professional floral arrangements and the need for a floral designer can add up quickly.

Faux Wedding Florals

Pros:

1. Unlimited Availability: Faux wedding florals offer an endless range of options, regardless of the season. You can choose from any flower, color, or style, as there are no limits to what can be created.
2. Durability: Synthetic flowers require minimal maintenance and can withstand various elements without wilting or losing their shape. They can be preserved as a lasting memento of your special day.
3. Cost-Effective: Faux flowers can often be a more budget-friendly option, especially if you are working with a limited wedding budget. They eliminate the need for a floral designer and can be reused or resold after the wedding.

Cons:

1. Artificial Appearance: Despite advanced manufacturing techniques, some faux flowers still have an artificial look that may not match the natural beauty of real flowers. However, high-quality silk or latex options can be incredibly realistic!
2. Limited Fragrance: While some faux flowers are scented, they typically lack the natural fragrance that brings a touch of freshness and romance to your wedding atmosphere.
3. Environmental Impact: Some faux flowers are made from synthetic materials that are not biodegradable. So if sustainability is a priority for you, you may want to do additional research to find options that are sustainable if that is important to you.

In conclusion, the choice between real and faux wedding florals ultimately depends on your personal preferences, wedding theme, and budget! Real flowers offer natural beauty, seasonal variety, and an eco-friendly option, but come with limited availability and higher costs. On the other hand, faux flowers offer unlimited options, durability, and cost-effectiveness, but may lack the natural elegance and fragrance of real blooms. Consider these factors carefully and make a choice that best suits your vision for your perfect day!
